I am an abstract artist working with the passage of time and experiences. Through layers of drawing, painting, and collage, I am creating maps of those memories. We are the sum of our experiences. Each impression overlapping and merging with others. That meshing happens visually as I apply the layers on the surface. Some areas are transparent allowing what has been applied before it to be seen, while other areas are opaque, covering what is beneath.  I am creating a space where time becomes an amalgamation rather than linear.

I begin with a foundation of airbrushed texture or large painted blocks of color. At some point in my process, I draw maps of places I have lived or spent significant memorable time. These maps are drawn as memories rather than functional to scale maps. Paint is applied in different shapes and then pulled off using a method thatleaves a thin layer of textured paint behind. At different stages in the process, pieces of paper, clothes patterns, phone books, envelopes, and other items are collaged onto the surface. Some of these items represent day to day life, while others are mementos, little tangible pieces of an experience.

Our journeys are layers that intertwine with each other becoming a strata of time and place. Those layers influence each other, creating a plane where these adventures happen simultaneously, yet separately. This plane is a collection of the residue of occurrences meshing together as an inseparable whole.
